July is month of festivals, fun and (hopefully) sun. Just in case it rains, you can keep the young people in your life occupied by taking a look at our selection of children's books, including some activity books. Or treat yourself to a good read while relaxing in the sun.

Reception at the Cabinet Office

Sir Gus O'Donnell, our newest (if not our only) Salesian Knight of the Realm, held a reception for family and friends in the Cabinet Office in Whitehall on Friday 25 November. Guests included academic and sporting colleagues from his wide range of interests and many of the Old Salesians FC Veterans team for whom he plays most Sundays.

In his informal review of how he came to be standing on a desk overlooking Horse Guards Parade, Sir Gus was kind enough to commend to all his guests this year's Salesian Past Pupil National Appeal to combat child malaria. The Appeal poster was even displayed on the Cabinet Office door. There might be one or two people with money or influence who see it!

The guests were then treated to a rousing rendition of the Salesian School song (definitely a first!)
